The tiny (20mm) Epi Pins pinch through the Stratum Corneum by the tapping motion of the EpiPin Handle which creates micro channels. Epi Pins are made of Hyaluronic acid which is a very stiff, thick material. It is hydrophilic and thus attracted to water. Once combined with water, it gets softer and remains at the site of water. Since the amount of moisture of the skin is higher underneath the Stratum Corneum, it softens the Hyaluronic acid enabling it to remain in the epidermis.
